Okay momma, I’ve heard you! I’ve heard that you never get time to get ANYTHING done much less #ALLTHETHINGS! My main thought isn’t that you shouldn’t try to do #allthethings, but I know it’s hard sometimes to think on a smaller scale. You’re overwhelmed. You want to know how to get 5 minutes to fold that laundry. Well lady, I’ve got 4 amazing toys that will hopefully help you get the time that you need. These are the kinds of toys that just entertain them and with which they can play independently. Can I get a HALLELUJAH!
1. A water table
Seriously you’d be amazed at how many hours of entertainment my child gets out of this one. If I need to spend 10 minutes networking, I fill this thing with water and give him an astronomical number of water toys. He will run around soaking himself to the bone for hours. I enjoy watching his creativity blossom as he plays with his toys.
My child will spend countless hours turning the pages in his books and reading them. We’ve gotten to the point where he’ll start pointing to things and telling me what is on the page. It’s super fun. While he’s reading, I can get his clothes put away, answer a quick email, or prep a snack!
3. Art supplies/Play dough
Okay, I know these can be scary. We worry that they’ll paint the walls or make a HUGE mess, but we just have to realize that’s going to happen. We can do our best to prevent it or to help distract from it, but it’s going to happen at some point. That is why they invented the Magic Eraser. They will be entertained for at least half an hour though. This means you can start dinner!
You can even make these out of cardboard boxes. It’s seriously fun. They’ll run through and play hide and seek. It’s a simple toy that can add hours of entertainment especially if you’re willing to go through with them occasionally or play peek-a-boo at the end. You can finish dinner, catch up on emails, start or change laundry, and even clean a room.
