This week we sat down with Samantha Brook Johnston. You know her from Neapolitan Creative. She is a brand developer to the creative + confused. Through coaching, strategy & design she helps her clients go from doubtful to decisive and create amazing stand out brands infused with their personality and style. In short, she helps them fall in love with their brands all over again. Her adoring fans and clients have called her “Tinkerbell with a whip. Great accountability sprinkled with pixie dust”, “[the] push outside my comfort zone” and “an incredible coach and friend.” When she’s not working you can find her hanging out with her kids, dog, and husband (most likely on a soccer field or at the park).
This week we’re discussing how feminism as we knew it is dead. We’ve reached a point where women without children make $.96 to the $1 but women with children only make $.79 to the dollar. Yes, I notice that there is still a gender gap in wages. What I notice more though is that mothers are really paying the price. It’s time for us to stand up for caregivers! We live in a country that makes it difficult to be both a caregiver and a worker. We live in a country that doesn’t allow women enough time off for them to come back to work feeling balanced. We don’t support people in their ability to have a daycare provider. As a country, we fail all caregivers, not just moms, but it seems to be moms who suffer the most. We could end the wage gap once and for all if we could figure out how to support mothers in the workforce.
