Every Thursday, I take Sweet Baby J to Music Together class, and we love it. I’m so excited that I am able to share those moments with him. We’ve found his voice. He sings along with the radio. He dances to all his favorite songs. He’s a bit obsessed with Bruno Mars and Cyndi Lauper. I love it. We also constantly play musical instruments in home. I’d totally recommend finding a class like this in your area.
We love Music Together because…
1. It helps us meet other children.
Once a week, we have to play and share with other children. It helps my child to learn how to navigate social situations. I don’t butt in to the little struggles. I watch and help him to figure out how to handle those himself. He does beautifully so far. Mostly, he just lets people take things from him without caring, because he moves onto the next activity. He seems to just make the best of the situation really.
2. We work on motor skills
We work on both gross and fine motor skills. He learns to hold instruments and play them, and they are of varying sizes and skill levels. It also helps learn how to interact with different kinds of objects. We are learning to be more gentle with some than others. It’s similar to how we learn about library books.
3. We learn to follow instruction
He has to listen to the teacher and work toward a goal. Sure, it’s not strict, but it’s a start. We learn that we use scarves on certain songs or play the instruments on others. We learn how to clean up. It’s beautiful.
Now if only we could learn how not to put the instruments in our mouths, right? Seriously though Music Together has been a blessing for Sweet Baby J. What kind of classes do you take with your child?
