First birthdays aren’t for the baby. I am 100% aware that first birthdays are for the parents and family. It’s a time to celebrate having survived a year and starting to mesh as a unit. It’s a time to celebrate knowing yourselves as parents as well as partners. It’s about knowing you’ve survived the most dangerous parts of childhood. Sure, I know my child will be a daredevil in a few short months, but he is much less likely to randomly pass in his sleep. These are the milestones we truly celebrate when we celebrate the first birthday but isn’t it also wonderful to watch the little guy get cake all over his face? We’re planning a Little Blue Truck Party!
I feel like I’ve planned this birthday party for a year. Okay, I’ll let you in on a little secret…I have been! I probably started thinking about his first birthday before he was born. I didn’t know the theme or where we were going to have it, but I knew it’d be spectacular. Birthday themes are important to me because I love being able to plan all the props for the big event. Sweet Baby J fell in love with The Little Blue Truck pretty early in his life so we settled easily on that theme. We were able to find a petting zoo to host the party, and I have gone all out with plans. We got a barn backdrop for the photo booth and little animal faces for the kids to wear. I ordered a cake shaped like the Little Blue Truck. We are on top of our game. Of course, Pinterest is always a HUGE help.
You can check out my Children’s Birthday board to see some other ideas for parties. There are ideas for parties other than those related to the Little Blue Truck.
What did you do for your first birthday? Did you plan a wild bash for your first or subsequent children? What’s your favorite party theme? Tell me everything!
