The family that listens to Podcasts together stays together, right? Okay, I guess that’s not exactly the saying. My husband and I love learning so it’s always nice to pick up a good podcast when we are on the road especially on trips that are more than just around town. I thought I’d share the podcasts we love listening to together.
Okay, I know this one seems obvious. Who isn’t listening to Serial? Well, I’m sure there are a few of you out there, but I know it’s not many. I really enjoyed Season 1, and I’m glad they were able to put together a Season 2. I was surprised and remain surprised by the subject of Season 2, but it is definitely a compelling story. I can’t wait to hear the end of the tale even though I know we won’t have a resolution.
It requires a postmortem.
If you are a history buff, this is a must listen. There is so much history that just can’t be included in the history books. I’ve learned a lot. I mean did you know about Lisztomania? I didn’t.
I know I’ve talked about this one endlessly, but I can’t emphasize enough all that I get from it. I’ve learned about so many books, television shows, and of course comic books by listening to this show that I can’t even begin to tell you its benefit. My favorite host is Stephen Thompson. He says I have bad taste, but you can decide for yourself when you give the show a listen.
I love politics. I don’t think that’s a secret to anyone who truly knows me, but I don’t like a lot of political news. Sound bites are annoying and most of the time you don’t know any more than you did when you started listening, but this podcast is different. It’s a woman from the right and a woman from the left talking about politics without judgement. You get to hear from both sides which helps to give some perspective, and I honestly find myself changing my mind on things occasionally after hearing their arguments. Of course I majored in politics so it should be no surprise that I love a good political debate and this podcast does it perfectly.
Of course I can’t finish this post without a little shameless self promotion. If you’re tired of the Mommy Wars then I suggest you come listen to these two incredibly different moms talk about their struggles, parenting news, and products you can’t live without.
These are the podcasts we love to listen to together. What are your favorites? Do you listen as a family?
