We know that being a parent isn’t easy. We all love to be able to get together with another parent we know and vent about things that are going on in our lives, and I believe this is good for us. We all need to know that we are not alone. That being said it’s also important to remember those moments that really made your day. Most of us love to share the big moments like the first time your baby smiled, crawled, or that first word, but we live in a world where it’s important to share the smaller moments especially with our newly expecting friends. We are constantly bombarded with reminders of how little sleep new parents get or how rough teething can be (lordy, I’m living that one right now), but we aren’t often reminded of just what that little smile can do for you. That’s what this link up is about though guys.
You’ll have to forgive the iPhone photo this time guys, because it was the only way I could record this magical moment. It was becoming a standard joke around our house that Sweet Baby J only smiled when Daddy was holding him so I literally spent a week trying to figure out how to get him to smile while I was holding him. Now I think we’ll all admit that at least a few times while Daddy was holding him he was smiling at me since I was talking to him and taking the picture, but it didn’t keep me from really wanting a photo of him smiling up against me. My entire week was made when it finally happened. It made the sleepless night totally worth it. It made the fact that we were going on a walk due to Sweet Baby J being Fussy McFussypants worth it. It made everything around me melt. It’s worth it when you see that warm smile light up the room and on your camera. It’s worth it when you know that you are the cause of said smile. It’s worth it when you get to spend time snuggled up together.
My second it’s worth it moment of the week is the way we’ve spent our mornings. He wakes up in a pretty good mood, but he’s never really fully awake. This means we get to spend some time relaxing together, and I think this makes everything totally worth it. It’s worth it when he starts to pet my face. It’s worth it even as he scratches my eyeball. It’s worth it, because these are the sweet moments I won’t get forever. I remind myself every day that he’ll only be like this for a little while, and that means that every small joy is totally worth it. It’s worth it to feel your heart swell. It’s worth it to feel the love. It’s worth it to want to scream it from the rooftops. Trust me you’ll never know any higher highs than this.
What are the moments that make it worth it to you?
