Each year, I get super excited to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He’s not always as excited as me, but it’d be hard to get to that level. The truth is that I’m always excited, because I’ve taken the time to think extra hard about the perfect presents. I’ve taken the time to remember exactly what dessert he’s going to love (cheesecake for those of ya’ll that don’t know.). I’ve taken the time to really piece together what I think will be an awesome day filled with things he loves to do. Most importantly it’s a day we get to spend together. This year is no different. I look forward very much to watching him open his presents tomorrow, because he will certainly be met with surprises. Surprises I can only hope he’ll like. The entire goal of the day for me is that he’ll like it. I want every minute to be filled with pure happiness.
Most importantly, I want to take a moment to celebrate him. My darling husband is nothing short of my sanity. Ya’ll I don’t have it all together, but I don’t need to with him around. The moments when I want to pull my hair out are thankfully met with my very own superhero to the rescue. He may not wear a cape and fight crime in the middle of the night, but he’s there to grab the screaming baby so momma can go to the bathroom or even just get a quiet moment to herself. He’s the kind of guy who brings you blueberry donuts in bed. Can we say heaven? He builds all the stuff and fixes all the things that fall on my head or foot. The truth is that I’d just be lost without him.
I couldn’t begin to imagine my life without him. So I just wanted to shout it out to the rooftops. Happy Birthday Husband! Every birthday should be a happy birthday, and we should all be lucky to call someone like you our partner. I know that I truly am. You are the peanut butter to my jelly. I mean even when I feel crappy you always remind me that you think I’m hot stuff. That’s nothing for anyone to snub their nose at of course. I know that you’ll have a happy birthday, because I know that you’ll truly be happy just taking a hike with Sweet Baby J and I somewhere in Asheville or on the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. I know that you’ll have a happy birthday, because I know you’ll wake up to the wonderfulness that is your family. We’re totally not full of ourselves! I know that you’ll have a happy birthday, and I know you’ll be glad that I put in all the effort even if it seems silly. You’ll love it, because it’ll make me extra happy.
All in all though I hope you have a happy birthday and that you build memories to think back on fondly. I hope you remember walking with Sweet Baby J in the rain to get dessert, because I suggested we walk. Of course as time goes on, we’ll probably forget it wasn’t raining when we left. I hope you remember getting an ice cream flight at The Hop and tasting all their interesting flavors. I hope you’ll remember the time spent with family eating cheesecake. This is what I truly hope you’ll get from your birthday, because these are the things we always have to carry us forward when times get rough. I hope you know that we love you, and we are so glad to be able to celebrate with you.
