As I get settled into our new home, I realize that I am also getting settled into my new phone routine. I know that I’m at a point in my life right now where I almost need an app for everything. I need apps to remind me that I need apps. Okay, I guess it’s not that bad, but you can guarantee that my memory is pretty bad between lack of sleep and the Incredible Shrinking Brain that my memory is shot. This is why I need more apps than usual. I use these 5 apps every single day of my life.
Pocket is in the 5 apps I use daily category, because I can save articles to read later. I love this feature. It’s important to be able to keep up with what’s going on in the world, but it’s even more so when you’re trying to keep timely with new content for a blog. I know it doesn’t seem like I’ve done that lately, but I’m back!
This is the email app from Gmail that I’ve been waiting for all my life. Okay, I may be a bit dramatic there, but I don’t know how else to put it. Mailbox was great for a hot minute, but I became less and less able to clear my inbox and the notifications staring me down just made me feel like I was behind ALL the time. Inbox allows me to read my emails and easily classify them into folders which means I can more easily deal with the deluge that is my daily email count. This also makes the 5 apps I use daily list, because it easily syncs with all my mail apps.
Timeful reminds me to take time to do the things I need to do daily. I don’t really need a reminder for some things, but it’s nice to have it on my calendar to mark off so I don’t forget. You can easily get too caught up in everything going on in the world to read a few pages in a book or an article so it’s nice to have an app where I can put it all in and great my day knowing that I’ll get to everything. Timeful helps me judge my productivity and thus easily makes the list of 5 apps I use daily.
I’m always writing down my grocery list and then promptly losing it. I was so glad to find Grocery IQ since I know this won’t happen anymore. I was in love with it from the minute I started putting my list in it. This app is definitely in the top 5 apps I use daily, because it also sorts the groceries by aisle. This means I’m not lost trying to find it in my new location either, which is a total blessing.
This app is something I feel like should be in everyone’s top 5 apps they use daily. It’s the in the top 5 apps I use daily, because I still have to learn my new town. Waze makes it easy to get back to where I want to go even when I get off the beaten path, or I can just go directly to where I want to go. This app is my saving grace regardless.
As you can see, I have many reasons for the 5 apps I use daily, but they are all something that help make my life easier. I knew I was a real adult when most of the apps I downloaded onto my new phone were productivity apps. I have one game on the whole thing, and it’s a single player word game. I guess it was time to grow up after all.
