Sweet Baby J has survived 2 months, and I’m here to discuss his 2 month milestones. The truth of the matter is that being a 2 month old is difficult, or at least I assume it must be based on our experience. They can’t communicate clearly so your 2 month old is watching you fumble around trying to figure out their needs until you get the big BINGO! I assume that sometimes your 2 month old and mine wishes that they could just tell you EXACTLY what they wanted. I imagine their little Bruce Willis voice making fun of us to be honest. Upon reaching 2 months though, I realize that there are HUGE differences between my 1 month old and my 2 month old. He’s learned so much and grown so big in such a little amount of time. I’m excited every day by him.
The biggest thing I notice on this board is that his pediatrician no longer calls him feisty or intense. She was very pleased at how calm he was during our last visit. He didn’t even make too big of a deal about getting his vaccines. The poor little guy was a mess that afternoon and next day though, because he just didn’t feel well. I loved the snuggles though. It wasn’t long after that though that he was back to his normal self, and we’re all glad he got his vaccines.
The pediatrician also told us that based on how long he was sleeping now she thought we could ditch the middle of the night feeding. He indicated that he could sleep through the night, and he does! Of course based on what I hear from other moms I feel both blessed and concerned all at once. I hear of babies much older than mine who can’t sleep more than 2-3 hours without wanting to eat. Sweet Baby J at the 2 month mark still eats 8-10 times per day, and he’s gained weight at every doctors visit so I try not to focus too much on the differences from one baby to another although sometimes it’s hard not to wonder.
She also said that it looks like he’ll be a good eater! He loves his Vitamin D, and I find it is an amazing thing to give him at a time when he’s super hyped up. It allows him to calm down for a second and we can assess what his needs are at the moment. He loves the taste of it, and we love that he’s getting the nutrients.
I’m not excited about starting the teething process, but I guess my little drool machine was ready. He won’t actually have teeth for months now, but he certainly creates maximum drool. I’d say that my shirt sometimes look like a snail has been there. Sweet Baby J has started to love on his teething toys at this stage as well.
Sweet Baby J still hates rolling over. He’s been doing it since the 7 week mark, but you’d think he’d been half killed almost every time he does it. He has discovered that he can sometimes find a toy on the top of his tummy time mat when he gets there though so he calms down a little faster. It’s always cute to see them find the world from a whole new perspective.
Those are the big things he’s doing now that we’ve reached the 2 month mark. I’ll warn you not to offer to change him if he’s in the Kelly Green Diaper or to try and take his lint collection away. He’ll be very angry with you.
