As we look back on 2014, I am reminded that this year has been pretty busy. I didn’t write fancy Christmas cards with a year-end review this year, because I simply took a picture that captured it all in one setting. As we look back on 2014, I realize that we planned a wedding, got married, made a baby, and traveled a lot! I can’t think of anything that could have been added to the year to make it more action packed, but we somehow still managed to celebrate with friends and make some major life changing decisions outside of just having a baby. As we look back at 2014, I am reminded that the years fly by but that the memories are forever.
We got married! As we look back on 2014, I am reminded that I literally thought I would never get married for the last few years. It wasn’t until I met Jeremy that I thought it was truly possible. That isn’t to say I hadn’t hoped for it all along, but I just didn’t think it was going to happen. My Pinterest board was called Wedding I May Never Have after all. June 20, 2014 changed my life forever. It was the most beautiful and perfect day I could have asked for as well. It was definitely one for the highlight reel.
We traveled from California to Tennessee to spend some time on my family’s farm and celebrate our wedding a second time. We made stops along the way to see the hubs’ parents, friends, and the sites. We loved every minute of this road trip, and we didn’t even spend much time arguing. I get way less argumentative when I’m not the one driving anyway. For those of you who don’t know me, I get so frustrated when I’m lost that it’s almost incomprehensible to me. It was a great trip though, and we spent a lot of time learning even more about each other and our great nation!
We ate. Union Pasadena was rated the #2 new restaurant in LA, but I could have told you why long before they started to describe it in Los Angeles magazine. The homemade pasta and fresh daily ingredients that dictate the menu make it an absolute no brainer. Chef Kalman is also a top-notch dude. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend it.
Then of course I cannot forget brunch at Michael’s Pizzeria, which was utterly delicious. The sweet and savory aspects of the perfect brunch menu aside we had a lot of fun that day. We laughed and just got to really enjoy ourselves so much, and it wasn’t just because we were listening to Pop Culture Happy Hour on the way into the restaurant. It was truly because the restaurant atmosphere was relaxed and we were allowed to really enjoy the star of the meal, the food.
As we look back on 2014, I am happy to see all the great meals we shared, but I am also anxious to get to taste more in 2015. Food adventures are some of my favorites, because they allow me to find new places and also new ways people express themselves and the culinary arts. I truly believe that being a chef is being a certain type of artist. Also, ink.sack if you’re reading this I’d really like to try your tortilla Espanola sandwich. I’m kidding! I’ll go try it on my own next year. We are going to adventure in 2015.
As we look back on 2014, I am reminded that we traveled internationally. I am reminded that we spent 2 weeks just curled up enjoy each others company without much complaint. I kid. There were no complaints. We were in jolly old England for a few days with the dreary weather, but it was still perfect. Then it was off to Santorini to enjoy fun in the sun. I couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon. I mean I got to spend hours weightless in a pool!
As we look back at 2014, I remember that we introduced the world to Sweet Baby J and that we opened up a discussion about how Not EVERYONE is happy about your pregnancy. I was overwhelmed with the response to the latter post. I don’t think many of us think about the fact, but when I read the comments I am almost moved to tears. There are so many people who have reached out to me about the reproductive difficulties through this post, and I am so glad to be able to talk about these kinds of topics with ya’ll.
As we look back on 2014, I am excited to enter 2015. I know that we have jam-packed this year, and I hope to continue to do so next year. There is another big announcement coming and of course the birth of our Sweet Baby J. We will spend the next few months of a whirlwind of emotions and I’d like to invite you all along for the ride again this year.
What are your big plans for 2015?
