There is no doubt in my mind that there are strong feelings toward the glucose test portion of pregnancy. I hadn’t met anyone who didn’t have a strong opinion about how the cola tasted no matter the flavor they’d chosen. This was the main reason that I was happy to see that I had options. I could eat breakfast, have a snack, or drink the cola. I knew I wanted to avoid the cola. Breakfast was the option that was best for me, and it normally would have been super easy to eat but it wasn’t. Of course my child has decided that the smell of eggs is the worst thing ever, and they were definitely on the list for my breakfast. You’ll be glad to know that I scarfed it down though.
This is a glucose test that I could get behind. These were all things I’d normally love even despite my lactose intolerance. It made the glucose test seem fairly easy. The hardest part was the icky feeling the milk gave me of course. Well that and the fact that my vein gave out in the middle of the blood draw. I finished the breakfast in about 15-20minutes and we rushed to the midwifery for the draw. I literally had to run in the doors and they luckily took me right to the back. It took awhile to get the blood out because I hadn’t had any water that morning. I was anxious about drinking it because I didn’t want to dilute the results. Anyway after we tried both arms we finally got enough blood to run the glucose test and check my other vitamins.
The test results came back within a couple of days and boy was I glad when I got the glucose test results. I was literally pulling into an event yesterday that meant eating a lot of sweets. You already knew this if you follow me on twitter of course. Cinnabon was to the rescue as a celebration of passing the glucose test. It was an absolutely delicious treat and I even had some again this morning! I’d call this week a success! Glucose test was good and I got to eat a few sweet treats!
How has your week been going?
