I awoke this morning to your stories of interstate closures and getting kids up for school only to find that it had been canceled, and I felt for you! Okay so maybe I laughed a little when I found out that one of the interstate closures was due to an overturned cattle trailer, but I swear I wasn’t laughing at you. I could imagine it happening in my head and all the cattle just running everywhere though based on growing up on the farm, and we all know they’re super brilliant animals. The truth is though that it forced me to get out of my bed even though I felt like my house was part of those very frozen stories. It was 62 degrees. I turned the heat on to 70! I can feel your pain though, I swear! I remember waking up mornings and running to the car in my pajamas to warm it up for my trek to school, because I couldn’t see out of the frozen windshield. I remember praying for school to be canceled so I could stay in the warm house all day! Yeah, I wasn’t the kid trying to run out and play in it folks. It is the part of me that can’t stand to be cold and wet that is trying to send you good vibes and warm sunshine for the rest of the season except on Christmas Day. We all know snow is best on Christmas! I miss that possibility every year.
Now that I’ve bounced all over the place, I truly want you to know that I hope you’re staying warm and safe. I hope that you don’t have to go out into the frozen tundra that is taking over your neck of the woods. I hope that you have a well stocked liquor cabinet and plenty of hot cocoa at the ready, because we know these help with the frozen temperatures and stir crazy kids. I hope your house smells like all the warmth of the winter season. Someday, I promise that I’ll join the ranks of you again. For now, I’ll try not to complain about 60 degree days, but I’ll have you know they feel colder than you think here. I’ll try not to take too many pictures of sunshine to taunt you. I’ll avoid discussing how uncomfortable I am right now when it gets above 70. I’ll even have a cup of white chocolate cocoa for you! Here’s wishing you a very quick thaw!
Tell me what you’re doing to enjoy the cold weather or what you’re doing to just make it through.
