Okay, I know that most people go on a honeymoon after their wedding. Some of us take them delayed while others leave the day after the wedding. I’ll admit that large chunks of our honeymoon weren’t easy for me because we were on an island in Greece with many steps, but I’m so glad that we went no matter what the circumstances. That’s the point of this post. The circumstances might not always be perfect for your honeymoon, but you should go anyway. Here are the 5 reasons that you should absolutely take a honeymoon.
- You’ll get to spend quality time together
I cannot emphasize this one enough. When you’re at home, you have the pressures of your everyday life. You look around your house, and you find things that need to be done. I mean we have a nursery to prep here, and I’m definitely in I wanted it done yesterday mode at this point, haha. It was nice though to be able to take a few days away to focus on us and not worry about all the things piling up on the to do list. We might not have been able to see all the island or do all the excursions I had envisioned, but we could just relax, read a book, and spend time connecting on a whole different level.
- You’ll get to see some place new or see some place old in a new light
We decided to go to a place that neither of us had ever been. We’d neither one been to Greece, and I really wanted to see the island so it was perfect. We were able to take it all in for the first time together. You can do this with some place close to home or far away. If you’re going somewhere that you’ve been before then you’ll be able to see that area in a whole new light. It’ll hold a different sort of magic than it ever had before. You’ll be seeing it through the eyes of your other half.
- No one will be expecting to hear from you.
We were up everyday before dawn. We face timed with our families. No one expected this, but it was nice. It helped us to be able to share our experience with them. For the most part though, you will be left totally alone. No one will want to interrupt your bliss. You won’t get any of those pesky emails from work, or if you do you can ignore them.
- You’ll have fresh eyes upon your return
You’ll be able to look at your to-do list and not feel overwhelmed. You’d be amazed at how much you get done in those first few days after you get home. We made all the important purchases for starting to set up the nursery, refilled our fridge, and got started on some home projects. It helps of course if you’re off your time zone deal and still get up at 5:30am every single day. It’s really working to make me feel more productive in general I’ll tell ya.
- The memories
You’ll have those memories forever. You’ll be able to look back and think about how awesome it was to go on a trip somewhere with your honey and you’ll revel in that forever. There won’t be a moment that I think of Greece that won’t be beautiful, because I know that I spent it with the best possible person in the world. It was a time spent celebrating our love.
So if you’re thinking about skipping out on the honeymoon, I hope you won’t. I hope that you’ll find something that is in your budget and just go for it. I promise that you won’t regret it! You’ll be glad you took a honeymoon for these reasons and so many more.
