Preparing for International travel is no easy feat. There are so many things to do and plan before even leaving the country. As I prep for my time away, I figured I’d come here and share a few tidbits on how to prepare for your trip.
- Schedule any necessary appointments.
For me, it was important to schedule my midwife visit before we left for our vacation. We wanted to ensure that everything was going well with the baby and get any necessary travel tips. This appointment will happen tomorrow for us! I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Traveling in your second trimester should be fine, but I’m anxious to make sure I do everything I can to prevent any problems such as blood clots or even getting the common cold. Masks are definitely going to be purchased.
- Set your emergency contact information to someone who is not your travel partner.
Heaven forbid that anything should happen during your travels, but it is best to be prepared. The emergency contact should be someone who will not be on the trip with you as the person with you is likely to be involved in the trauma. We set ours to our parents individually.
- Put a stop on your mail/newspaper.
Nothing says you’re gone on vacation like mail piling up at your door. This is like inviting people to rob your house. It’s best to put a stop on the mail. It’s easy to pick it up when you return, and it’s mostly junk anyway, right?
- Make sure you have all items you’ll need to pack.
There are adapters and such that you’ll need for sure on your travels, but these aren’t the only things I’m talking about here. I’m pregnant so I needed to ensure that I had extra vitamins, bra extenders, and clothes suited to the weather of our destination that would fit. It’s important to check these things fairly early in the process. Amazon Prime has been good to me though on those last-minute things.
- Don’t stress
You have planned this trip for fun so don’t let all the planning and prepping get you down. You’ve got to enjoy the whole ride!
These are my 5 tips for International Travel Prep. What are some on your list?
