It’s that time of year again. The time of year when we have a million holidays. I love moving from one set of decorations to the next. I’ll admit that Halloween has the most decorations in my house. The only reason is that last year was the year of the tree for Christmas. As you know when it comes to the end of the year, we celebrate two holidays in my house so this year will be about getting things to set up that portion of the year. I love decorations! I’m so looking forward to this.
Anyway, it’s time to get back to Halloween. We were hosting game night at my house last week so I thought it was the most appropriate time to start my decorating. Who better to test them on than your friends, right? I’m working on building up to more outside decorations, but I’ll share with you what we have for now!
I bought this carvable pumpkin from Michael’s last year. I figure it’s always better to have something that can be reused year after year. Anyway, this year I decided to change it up and use it as a planter. Last year, it contained a flower arrangement made with silk flowers. I have to say that I like this year WAY better. It has that pop of color I love. My husband drilled a few holes in the bottom for drainage, and he made the opening larger so that our mum would fit in perfectly! I decorated the chalkboard stand and wah-lah it was ready to go.
Now we’ve moved inside. These are the flowers that were in the pumpkin last year. As you can see, it was way too much black on black on black. That’s why I decided to put it in the fishbowl this year. It really helps to make the colors pop instead of getting lost in the black hole of the pumpkin.
The fireplace is always the place to decorate. This year I decided to take the wine bottles that were spray painted with chalkboard paint to say Happy Fall Ya’ll. This season isn’t all about Halloween after all. I had another chalkboard stand leftover from the wedding so I had to come up with something else to put out. Pumpkin, Spice, and Everything Nice tends to be how I feel about this season. It’s not too cold, but it’s not too hot (unless you live in Southern California!). Anyway, I thought it was a nice sentiment for fall.
The mantle became the finishing piece in our house. It’s always the perfect place to really be able to display a lot. I essentially used the rest of the decorations I had here. Candleholders, salt and pepper shakers, sparkly owls, coffins, and another flower arrangement.
There you have it all our Halloween decorations. Don’t worry over the years I’ll be collecting way more things to show you guys! I especially love to go right after the holiday and find all the bargains. Plus, you get a great deal on not only the Halloween decorations but the Halloween candy! That’s my big tip for ya’ll today!
