It’s totally a trend right now to upload your summer reading list. It’s the time of year when we take more time to sit by the pool and relax. It’s the time of the year when we can enjoy more free time. For me, it’s the busiest summer ever of wedding planning and birthdays, but I still have a few books I’d like to finish this summer. On top of that, I’d like to finish 34 books for the year, and I am VERY behind.
I’ll admit that most of my reading gets completed in a warm bath. It’s the few minutes of the day when I don’t have to focus on anyone else talking to me or needing something. I’m getting used to this early. Beeble and I sometimes try to read in bed at night, but I find myself not able to do it all that well. This summer I am going to tackle these four books though! That’s a little over 1 book per month, and I know I can finish it.
Adam Corrolla’s new book comes highly recommended to me. I can imagine Adam’s presidency now so I’m sure it will is full of hilarity as well as some seriousness. It takes me back to college when I enjoyed Mo Rocca’s All The President’s Pets. At the time, I was writing a paper on how height effects Presidential elections so Mo’s theory on what the President’s pets say about them was super fun. I actually asked him about my height theory in an auditorium full of other students, and I’ll have you know he basically quoted my thesis sentence to me. My paper wasn’t due for another week. I wasn’t writing about rocket science, okay?
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a book that I cannot even begin to discuss with you. I told Beeble earlier that my review of this book would consist of me saying IT’S THE BEST BOOK EVER! No in all seriousness it’s a really great book GO READ IT NOW! If you haven’t read this or any of Truman Capote’s work then I suggest you gorge yourself on it this summer. Truman Capote is the reason I read fervently today.
Love In The Time of Cholera is another book that I have heard copious amounts about over the last few months. Everyone and their mom seems to be recommending it to me. Trust me when I tell you, I am always the last person to get in on fads in books and movies. I was the lone hold out in any social circle on Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, and I still haven’t read the Harry Potter series. All I’m trying to say is that I’m not reading it just because it was on the Oprah’s Book Club. I do however want to be able to have a conversation amongst my friends about a book they loved. Even reading can be social!
May We Be Forgiven is a book about all the things that interest me in one. I work in the entertainment industry so I know a few of those cutthroat people who rise to the top while caring about no one else. I also love learning about Richard Nixon so the Nixon scholar of a brother is an interesting side note to me. I can already tell it’s going to be a wild ride. What will get these brothers in so much hot water?
Have you read any of these? What did you think? What are your summer reading plans?
