Planning a wedding is like curating a museum about you, your relationship, and what kind of event you are hosting. This all starts from the very beginning of your planning process for you but you only have 1 shot to convey it to your guests. These are the people who haven’t been involved in the planning process. They’re your coworkers, parents’ friends, or people you know but aren’t bouncing ideas off of constantly, and they need to know about your event. One of the main ways you can set the tone is by picking stationary that fits the venue, mood, and formality that you’re trying to pass on.
For us, it was about portraying an after five affair that is a little less high brow. We are going for a rustic themed wedding in a vineyard that just happens to be going on in the evening. We didn’t want our friends to feel pressured to rent a tux for a one night affair but also didn’t want it to look casual. The time of day you host your wedding should also be helpful in letting people determine attire expectation. An afternoon event is rarely a formal affair but an evening one is generally black tie. For us, we wanted somewhere in between.
It was about that time I contacted MyCrayonsPapeterie about the invitations we wanted for the wedding. As you can see above, we picked something that looks rustic yet it also looked elegant to me. The flowers had the look I was going for and once it was customized to our colors it was spot on.
We actually just finished the invitation set and are ready to print. This gives us plenty of extra opportunity to get our friends over to stuff envelopes! Remember it’s always more fun with friends.
