Okay, I’m sure all of you were waiting on this change to come about. Wedding planning is all encompassing especially when you’re the bride! I’m here to let you know that it doesn’t have to be the end of the world though, and there is help. Sure you’ll probably still have an epic meltdown or two, but you’ll be so glad to have someone who has your back. My epic breakdowns have been completely related to whether or not my bridesmaids will find me evil, if I’ll lose enough wait before the wedding, and of course the I want everything that I want but we have a budget meltdown. Trust me the last one is something that is inevitable, but you’ll also come to realize quickly enough that you just have to focus on the parts that are most important to you. You’ll learn that photos and video are important to you or food is the most important, and it will all fall into place. For me, I want a party. I want to have an event that is cost friendly, rustic, and doesn’t have people sitting down all night. When I hired wedding planners, I didn’t know ANY of that. I didn’t even have a Pinterest board. The single most important thing to me was to know that I was not going to have to stress over the little things. I wanted to know that someone had my back if vendors were being nuts or that someone would punch me in the face if I was being nuts. Okay, so I don’t really think that my wedding planners would do that, but they’ve seen me at pretty much my worst long before they became my planners.

The first meeting with Kelly and Nicole from, K and N Events left me feeling overwhelmed. They were fabulous and patient. I had been visiting too many wedding planning sites. I was too worried about budget. In the end, I knew I had to hire them. I knew that for my own sanity it had to happen. I found the money. My suggestion is that if you’re planning a wedding this is something to invest in for a streamlined process. It will help you to better manage your time and you won’t have to be worried about when the florist is going to show up the day of the event. It will be handled seamlessly.
There are of course certain things you should look for in a wedding planner. You should look at the weddings they’ve already organized. This will tell you a lot about how organized they are or if you think they can be trusted with your vision. If all their photos are glitz and glam, but you want something chic and rustic then they might not be the right fit. Read their reviews. You don’t want to hire anyone with a 1 star rating on yelp. Check the vendors they most commonly work with, because you’ll probably be able to benefit from those relationships, and you want to make sure those people also sync with your ideas. That isn’t to say you can’t hire someone they don’t normally work with to do your photos, because we certainly did. It just means you might want to look to them first for discounts.
If you have a tight budget then let them know up front. They will be able to help you make a list of what is most important to you for the day and what is least important. They’ll be able to help you cut the cost and it might even be possible not to have to cut into your guest list. It is a trade off. You make the ultimate decisions, but the second head that isn’t so involved in the process is amazing.
Kelly and Nicole have been a blessing. It has been easy to talk to them when I’m frustrated with another vendor instead of blowing my stack. It’s good to know they’ll be there to manage the details on the wedding day. It’s great to know that things will go according to some semblance of a plan. This makes me even more excited for my big day.
