Pantone announced it’s color for 2014, and I just knew that I had to use it somewhere in the house. I’ll be honest with the fact that it doesn’t quite fit into our current color scheme for the living room, but it’s so beautiful I couldn’t resist painting this crate to hold our game collection. We actually have more than are pictured here, but you get the idea. I wanted to use the color of the year for something functional. As we started to paint it, I could imagine using this color in a room filled with creams, chocolates, and other neutral colors to bring brightness. As you can see pictured, it is a beautiful and rich purple hue, and yet it doesn’t feel feminine in the least. It feels warm and like it’s the kind of color that can add that pop you’ve wanted for awhile now but have been afraid to try. I highly recommend buying it. We used Behr here at the house. I’ve noticed a lot of other bloggers using Valspar. You’ll see what your local store has and can go from there.
If you’re like me, I know that you could probably spend hours perusing Pinterest for radiant orchid ideas. You’ll see that it’s not only hot in paint, but it’s also hot in fashion. I’m sure that you’ll be able to find the perfect way to incorporate what will be seen all over the blogging world as the hip color for this year. Actually I might be on the way to the store right now for some radiant orchid nail polish. Remember that you don’t have to go knee deep into a trend to enjoy it’s benefits though folks. You have to suit the trend to your taste not your taste to the trend.
