Okay, so the idea came about from this post after I’d seen liquor bottles used for a million things on Pinterest. Most of us drink or we know someone who does so getting the bottle was fairly easy. This particular bottle came about when we were going to host a party, and our dear friend Jerry was going to come. We agreed that after the party we would make it into a soap dispenser for the man himself.
You see Jerry was a man who was once in the United States Navy so there was no better bottle of liquor to start with than Sailor Jerry. We are completely unsure of who drank it that evening, but we are sure that it was devoured and made ready for this project. I didn’t taste it, but I can assure you that the spiced rum smell that emitted from opening the bottle made it seem of excellent flavor.
Now of course the works was to begin. For this project we ended up buying a syrup dispenser, because we knew that it would need to reach the bottom of the bottle to get all the soap out of it properly. You could use any soap pump that will work in the size bottle you’re using for the project. We cut it down to size very carefully about an inch at a time. Each time we would put the pump into the bottle and check the fit. You don’t want to cut too much away after all.
Once the pump fit to the bottle perfectly, I could envision the delight that was going to come over my face as we poured the soap into it. You see I always love when I have ideas that play out perfectly, but if you’ve been reading here long you’ll know that perfect rarely happens.
Let’s just say that I got a little heavy handed with the soap. You don’t want to soap to come up past where the neck gets smaller on the bottle for sure, because you’ll end up with overflow when you add your pump. You bet your sweet bippy that’s what happened here. Hence why I don’t have a finished photo for you. I was too busy cleaning up soap and soap suds all around it and ensuring that the label stayed on to boot. You’ll be glad to know that no bottles of Sailor Jerry were hurt in the process of this tutorial. I can only hope that Jerry will be as delighted by his present as I was making it.
