I’ll be the first to admit that I had never heard of the Banana Cow drink before Friday. I was standing at my office trying to figure out what drink to share with you this week when one of my coworkers said that she used to have this drink called a Banana Cow growing up. I asked her what was in it, and she told me the ingredients. I thought it would be a perfect Labor Day beverage that was easy to make for both people who wanted an adult beverage and those who wanted a refreshing smoothie. I merely adapted the recipe to only contain the natural sugars coming from the fruits.
Now I’m not going to lie to you here, I hate bananas. I hate them so much that it’s hard to believe I even agreed to make a banana beverage. I am trying desperately to come to terms with how I feel about bananas and give them a shot every so often though, and I have to admit that the sweetness of this beverage is fabulous. You can probably even convince a child to drink it and now think it’s good for them. I am still not a banana convert.
- 2 whole bananas
- 1 20oz can of crushed pineapple with juice
- 1/2 15 oz can peaches in light syrup
- 6 cups of ice
- 3 oz light rum (if desired)
- 1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender. (If you want them with rum add the rum here. If you want half and half then pour the first portion into glasses before adding the rum. Also only use 1.5oz rum for a serving of 2.)
- 2. Pour.
